So what did I do wrong?

I don't understand why people are such asses. Someone decided they should break into our brand new car, busting a window and scratching the paint, to steal our GPS and iPod. They're going to get away free because the police can't be bothered to come out here and look at the car. We had to practically fill out our own police report over the phone. The stuff isn't covered under the car insurance because they were "loose items," and our deductible is higher than the cost of the repair, so it's all out of pocket. So the insurance we're paying $200 a month for isn't doing us any good, and we can't even really afford to be paying that.

Meanwhile, I'm the schmuck who corrected a cashier at Target when she only rang up one of two items, paying the full amount instead of the mistaken original total. Being good doesn't pay. I'm too honest for my own good.

And to top all this off, we still have no jobs, Alex's unemployment was denied, we owe $10k+ on the wedding, and there are no prospects in site. Who did we piss off in the grand cosmic scheme of things that all this is happening to us?

I hate this. I just want to go home.

So I had two very strange dreams today. The first was about my grandfather, who died in 2000. In the dream, Nana and I went to visit him at the hospital and the doctors (two of whom were House and Cuddy), told us that there was no chance for recovery and that we should go ahead and--for lack of a better descriptor--put him to sleep.

The second dream started off in Boone. I had randomly decided that I was going to go visit D and co, so off I go. Then I stopped at some odd museum/fun house/gift shop combo and sneaked into the maze part (which was closed for the day). Then I came out and the clerk saw me. I asked where my purse was (I'd left it in the maze) and she told me it was at the front desk. I went up to pay for the candy I'd picked up while in the maze, and saw that there were vials of perfume for sell, so I browsed those and decided on Egyptian Goddess (which is my favorite incense scent, by the by).
Then the dream shifted gears and I was at our house in Virginia. My grandma and her sister and my sister were there, too. Then Brenda (my birth mother, UGH) showed up and I learned that Nana was going to give her $25k to "get her life together" or some such. I lost my mind about that, because that's much more than Nana can afford and my mother doesn't deserve that money at all. I said as much and told Nana that she couldn't give it to her. Brenda got enraged at me and started throwing hatchets and knives (WTF?) at us. I told the others to get inside and grabbed a short spear that she'd thrown. She had a set of long garden shears and was coming at me with a maniacal look on her face, so I threw the spear--which impaled her in the lower abdomen. So yes--I had a dream that I killed my birth mother. WTF.

So, for anyone who's been wondering what's going on in my life, the answer is nothing much, but a lot just the same.

As you may remember, I was planning to move to Maryland next month, to start establishing residency for grad school at the University of Maryland next year. But the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to do that right now. I don't know anyone in Maryland, nor do I know the area. The cheapest apartments I could find were close to $700 a month, plus utilities, and I don't know if I could afford that, plus paying for non-matriculated classes at UM.

Then I had a thought. Why not go somewhere where I already know people, and where I've been before, so that I actually know something of the area? Long story short, I'll be moving to Toledo in about a month! As I'm sure most of you know, my boyfriend is a chemical engineering major at the University of Toledo. He's got one last semester, so I'll be taking non-matriculated classes there until December. Once he graduates, we're hoping he'll get a job at the Patent Office in DC, but we'll see.

Anyway, that's what I'm up to! <3

Vacation plans!

My vacation starts today (unofficially, anyway).

Today, I'm heading up to Boone.

Tomorrow (Sunday), I'll be driving out to Clarksville, Tennessee, to pick up D. I'll spend the night with her, then Monday afternoon, we'll head to Toledo. We'll stay in Toledo with Joshling (my fiancé, har) for a few days (until Friday-ish?). From Toledo, we'll drive out to Pekin, Illinois, to spend the day with Leon-chan. Then it's back to Clarksville, and from there home for me.

I'll have my cell (336.549.4538) if anyone needs me, and I'll be online sporadically. Messages/comments are always welcome. I'll be home next week! <3

People I miss

In no real order:

Siv - I never talk to her anymore. I leave her messages when her messenger is signed online, but she never replies. I worry that I've somehow unintentionally done something to upset her, and that makes me sad. I love talking to her, and I had hoped I'd get to go to St. Louis over Labor Day and finally meet her in real life, but it seems like she either doesn't like me anymore or...I dunno.

Aaron - The poor dear is going to work himself into a coma. He's (as far as I'm concerned) a brilliant medical student, so that keeps him busy. I never catch him online, so I end up having to play comment tag with him on his journal. He's one of the sweetest and most intelligent people I've ever met, online or in real life, bar none. I just wish he had a bit more free time. I miss the talks we used to have on AIM.

Amy and LeeAnn - Both of whom I used to be really close to. Then college came and they went to Chapel Hill while Lauren, Nicki, and I went to App. I comment on their LJs once in a while, but that's really it. It's even sadder when you consider that they both live (when not at school) less than 15 minutes from me (less than 5, actually, in LeeAnn's case). I hope I can see them before too much longer.

Nicki - She DID go to App, but she transferred to Chapel Hill last year, so I don't talk to her nearly as much as I used to. She ALSO lives nearby, but again...I just never see her. Blah...

Nikki - Who always has to work. And she's going to Florida this fall, so I'll NEVER get to see her. *sigh* This sucks, really. I almost wish it were high school again, so that I could see my friends every day.

So riddle me this. I asked someone in DECEMBER if they could visit me in March. I was told "No, I can't. I'm going to do volunteer work that week." Nice, yes? You can't get mad at someone like that.

Apparently the other night, he told someone we both know that he went to Georgia because "he had nothing better to do." So I'm nothing. Not worth visiting. Not even worth telling the truth.

I hate myself right now.

Okay, lots of stuff to say:

I'm no longer double majoring. Thanks to the annoying and useless class I was forced to take to live on the Subfloor last semester, I don't have enough time to take all the classes that I need for Creative Writing AND Sociology. Since I never planned to do anything with Sociology once I graduated, I'm making that my minor. This way, I don't have to take summer school if I don't want to.
My cell phone has been acting exceedingly retarded the past couple of weeks. If you've called me and didn't get hold of me, that's why. That being said, my home phone is installed. That number is 828.265.0113. So if my cell isn't behaving, you can try to reach me at home. Yes? Yes.
I'm stepping out on a limb and mailing a certain someone a Valentine's Day gift. Let's hope he doesn't file a restraining order.
It's effing COLD in Boone. We have wind chill warnings every night. This nonsense isn't cute.
